Interested applicants looking to settle in Yukon can apply for permanent residency through one of the following categories:
Yukon Express Entry
This category allows individuals in the Express Entry pool who possess the necessary skills, education, experience to be nominated by the province. They must meet the minimum requirements for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (clickable link to its page), have the required settlement funds to support themselves and their family, and have a valid permanent full-time job offer from a Yukon employer.
Yukon Skilled Worker
This category is intended for individuals who are working in a NOC 0, A, or B occupation. They must have at least one year of directly related work experience for the position being nominated and meet the education and work experience requirements for that job.
Those who are in occupation classified as NOC 0 or A must obtain:
- CELPIP (English): level 7 in each of the four abilities
- IELTS: 6 in each of the four abilities
- TEFL 4 in each of the four abilities
Those who are in occupation classified as NOC B must obtain:
- CELPIP (English): level 5 in each of the four abilities
- IELTS: 5 in each of the four abilities
- TEFL 3 in each of the four abilities
Yukon Critical Impact Worker
This category is intended for individuals in NOC C or D occupation. They must have at least six months of relate work experience for the position being filled, acquire high school diploma, and obtain level 4 in each of the four abilities for CELPIP or IELTS, or level 3 for TEF.
Yukon Business Nominee Program
This program has been created for entrepreneurs who are looking to start their own business, partner with an existing business, or purchase and operate an existing business in Yukon. Those who are approved are provided with a two-year work permit to establish themselves and their business and after the end of that two-year period if they satisfy all eligibility requirements they can apply for permanent residence.
To be eligible under this program, interested applicants must have a net worth of at least $500,000 acquired legally and verified by a Yukon accounting firm, $300,00 in liquid assets, and invest at least $300,00 in the business. Applicant must have a minimum of 3 years of entrepreneurial or business management experience and 5 years of work experience related to the proposed business venture.
A business plan is required, which details how the applicant plans to establish their business.
