Manitoba offers many opportunities, whether that includes exploring their cultural history, their lands, or immigrating to work or settle. Manitoba has multiple categories under their Provincial Nominee Program through which individuals can choose to immigrate through to be economically established as permanent residents, which include:
- Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream
- Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
- International Education Stream
- Business Investor Stream
Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream
The skilled worker stream in Manitoba stream is locally driven and based on the needs of the employers in Manitoba. It targets temporary foreign workers and international graduate students who have the required skills to permanently settle in Manitoba. These potential applicants must currently be living and working in this province at the time of applying.
Eligible candidates must submit an Express of Interest (EOI) and enter the pool of candidates where they will be assigned a score based on a series of questions that they have answered online. Those who are ranked high will be invited to submit their application into the MPNP. This applies to both the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream and the Overseas stream.
The Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream consists of two pathways:
- Manitoba Work Experience Pathway
- For individuals, such as graduates of a Canadian post-secondary institution and temporary workers currently working in Manitoba on a work permit
- Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway
- Individuals living abroad are interviewed by a MPNP representative and a Manitoba employer. They must obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the MPNP before they can apply under this pathway
Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
Applicants overseas who can demonstrate they have an established connection to Manitoba through one of the following can apply to this pathway:
- Support of family or friends
- Through previous education or work experience in Manitoba
- Through an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the MPNP
Candidates must also score at least 60 points based on the five eligibility factors: age, language proficiency, work experience, education, and adaptability.
Under this stream, Manitoba offers two pathways through which the applicant may apply:
- Express Entry Pathway
- Candidates who meet the Express Entry (EE) criteria and have an active EE profile and also meet one of the MPNP streams can apply under this pathway. They must also have the support of a close relative or friend who has lived in Manitoba for at least one year. Candidate must also have at least six months of work experience in an in-demand occupation
- Human Capital Pathway
- This pathway is for foreign skilled workers with at least six months of work experience in an in-demand occupation and can demonstrate the ability and intent to become economically established and reside in Manitoba. This pathway is not part of the Express Entry system and therefore candidates do not need an EE profile in order to apply
International Education Stream
This stream is designed to provide a faster pathway to permanent residence for international students graduating from a Manitoba institution. This stream comprises of three pathways:
- Career Employment Pathway
- This pathway is designed for international students who have graduated from a minimum one-year post-secondary program in Manitoba within the last three years and have obtained a minimum 1-year contract for full-time job offer from an eligible Manitoba employer that falls under the in-demand occupations list

It provides them with the opportunity to establish a business rather than gain employment while on a valid work permit. A business plan must be submitted as part of the application process and must sign a Business Performance Agreement (BPA) before they can be nominated by Manitoba for Canadian permanent residence
Business Investor Stream
The business investor stream (formerly known as MPNP-B) is for individuals who wish to do business in Manitoba and includes two pathways:

A minimum investment of $250,000CAD is required for businesses within the Manitoba Capital Region or $150,000CAD outside the region. As well, at least 3 years of experience as an active business owner or senior manager in the past 5 years is required. Interested applicants are required to submit a business plan and sign a Business Performance Agreement (BPA)
