Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province by area, but is known for its gorgeous coasts, farmland, tourism, and the growing economy.
Applicants can apply to the PEI PNP under one of the following categories:
PEI PNP Express Entry
This stream is great for candidates who are already in the Federal Express Entry pool and are looking for a provincial nomination to get them the extra 600 points to add to their Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS).
A great benefit of this category is the faster processing time of six months or less. However, it is not guaranteed the candidate will be chosen for nomination as it depends on the qualifications of the individual and their ranking in the pool.
In order to be eligible for PEI PNP Express Entry, candidates must qualify under one of the federal economic immigration classes:
Interested applicants must also create a profile in PEI’s EOI (Expression of Interest) system in order to be considered under this category.
Labour Impact Category
This category is divided into three streams:
- Skilled Worker Stream
- Critical Worker Stream
- International Graduate Stream
Skilled Worker Stream
This stream accepts applications from applicants who are either working with a PEI employer or have acquired a job offer from an employer in the province. This job offer must be permanent or for a minimum of two years and classify under NOC 0, A, or B. Applicant must also have two years of full-time work experience in the past five years and obtain CLB 4 or higher in their English proficiency test.
Critical Worker Stream
This stream allows employers to fill low-skilled positions that they were unable to do so through the local job market. It is open to foreign workers already working with a PEI employer. They must have worked for a minimum of six months full-time for the PEI employer as well as have a full-time permanent or minimum two years job offer in NOC C or D. The applicant must also demonstrate as least two years of full-time work experience or relevant education in the past five years and obtain CLB 4 or higher in the language proficiency test.
The full-time job offer must be in one of the following occupations:
- Truck Driver
- Customer Service Representative
- Labourer
- Food and Beverage Server
- Housekeeping Attendant
International Graduate Stream
This stream is geared toward graduates who have completed a post-secondary degree or diploma from a publicly-funded PEI post-secondary institution. This is an employer-driven stream and allows employers to fill high-skilled positions that they were unable to do so through the local job market.
In order to be eligible, the graduate must also have a full-time job offer that is permanent or for a minimum of two years that classifies under NOC 0, A, or B. While a certain benchmark is not provided under this stream, the candidate must possess sufficient English and/or French language ability in order to perform the job that is offered to them.
